A lot of my drawings begin with a thought process, how to visually represent an idea accurately and succinctly. What led this drawing to existence was the question: truly, why do I make illustrations in dots. Any other medium would be quicker, why choose this extremely time-consuming technique.
The image you see is the answer to that. The process, the “pain-staking” effort required is its main feature. There is nothing pain-staking about it, it is relaxing, soothing, meditational. If you try and hurry, you will certainly ruin it. You must take your time and do it slowly and precisely or it will not turn out well.
The light illuminating from the frame is also the answer to the larger question of why I make images. It brings light to everything else, warmth to my every day and it partly becomes my raison d’être.
It is the image I am most proud of, in every sense.
